Bucher Industries publishes first sustainability report

Bucher Industries AG is publishing its first sustainability report in accordance with the GRI G3 Level C standard. Environmental indicators based on data collected for the first time in 2011 ensure additional transparency. The findings of the survey will feed into the operations of the Group companies.

For Bucher Industries, sustainability stands for corporate management with a long-term perspective. Resource optimisation is an integral part of a rational and sustainable economic approach, which has a long tradition at the Bucher Group. The publication of this first sustainability report closes a gap. It makes available for the first time information and data collected from 29 companies in all four divisions as well as the Bucher Specials segment. The report, based on data for 2011, covers all significant production sites and over 80% of Bucher Group employees.

The survey took in information on production, products, customers and employees, but the focus was on energy data, greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption. The Group now has a greenhouse gas inventory at its disposal for the first time. The knowledge derived from the environmental indicators will be translated into operational improvements. The Bucher sustainability report follows version G3 of the internationally recognised guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The report and the complementary GRI Index, which is published as a separate document, fulfil the conditions of Application Level C, as verified and certified by the GRI.

The sustainability report, complete with the GRI index, will be published exclusively online at

. The next report is planned for the end of June 2013, with data covering 2011 and 2012.
