Hermann Ineichen to leave BKW at the end of 2019

Change to the BKW Executive Board

Bern, 13 May 2019

Hermann Ineichen, Head of Production, deputy CEO and member of the Executive Board, has decided to leave BKW at the end of the year for personal reasons. The BKW Board of Directors and Executive Board greatly regret Mr Ineichen’s departure and would like to thank him for his many years of extraordinary dedication.

Hermann Ineichen, who graduated from ETH as a certified electrical engineer and has an MSc in energy economics from EPFL, joined BKW in 1996 and became a member of the Executive Board in 2001. As the long-standing head of the Energy business, he played a central role in establishing BKW’s international trading and distribution business and in the preparation for the company’s IPO on the SIX stock exchange in Zurich.

He has been the head of the production division since 2013. In this role, he was in charge of the conversion of the BKW production park and was a major factor in BKW’s ability to successfully overcome the sustained crisis in the international energy market. Mr Ineichen is also chiefly responsible for the Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning project. In addition, he has contributed to the development of the BKW Engineering business over the last four years. With a current staff of over 2,600 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, it has quickly become one of the largest and most successful engineering networks in German-speaking Europe. From 2020, Mr Ineichen will take on various advisory and consulting roles.

Suzanne Thoma, CEO of the BKW Group, deeply regrets his departure: “With his incredible skill and exemplary dedication, Hermann Ineichen has made an outstanding contribution to the successful development of BKW. We would like to thank him on behalf of all the employees of the BKW Group.”

The process of finding a replacement for Mr Ineichen is underway.
