In October 2024, 2,969,639 passengers passed through Zurich Airport, corresponding to an increase of 4% compared to last year. Passenger levels are 104% of those reached in October 2019 while the number of flight movements was below the 2019 level at 23,808 take-offs and landings.
In October, the number of local passengers was 2,139,337. Transfer passengers amounted to 28%, equal to 825,922 passengers.
Year on year, air traffic movements increased by 2% to 23,808 take offs or landings. A monthly comparison shows that air traffic movements are at 99% of the 2019 level. This means that while flight movements are still below pre-Covid level, the number of passengers has increased. The reason for this is that, on the one hand, larger aircraft are being used for operations and, on the other, the seat load factor is higher. The average passenger per movement figure increased to 140 (+1% vs. previous year). The average seat load factor was at 83% (+1 percentage point vs. previous year).
A total of 39,730 tons of freight were transported at Zurich Airport during the month of October. This led to an increase of 18% in freight volume compared to last year. Compared to October 2019, freight volume increased by 3%.
