GF Automotive expandiert in Asien und konzentriert sich auf das Kerngeschäft in Europa

GF Automotive, eine Unternehmensgruppe von Georg Fischer, wird die bestehenden Werke in China weiter ausbauen und sich auf ihre Eisen- und Aluminiumdruckgiessereien in Europa fokussieren. Das Aluminiumsandgussgeschäft mit den zwei Giessereien in Friedrichshafen und Garching (D) wird veräussert.
Georg Fischer erwartet in naher Zukunft weiteres Wachstum am asiatischen Automobilmarkt und eine allgemein verhaltene Lage in Europa.
Daher wird die rasche Expansion von GF Automotive in China fortgesetzt. In den letzten sechs Jahren ist der Anteil des Landes am Gesamtumsatz der Unternehmensgruppe von 0 auf 10 Prozent gestiegen. Die starke lokale Nachfrage erfordert eine Erhöhung der Produktionskapazitäten der beiden bestehenden Eisen- und Aluminiumdruckgiessereien von etwa 40 Prozent innerhalb der nächsten zwei Jahre.
In Europa liegt der Fokus von GF Automotive auf Aktivitäten, bei denen bereits eine führende Position erreicht wurde oder künftig erreicht werden kann. Aus diesem Grund hat die Unternehmensgruppe beschlossen, sich hauptsächlich auf ihre führenden Eisen- und Aluminiumdruckgiessereien zu konzentrieren, das gesamte Aluminiumsandgussgeschäft zu veräussern und somit die Produktionsstandorte in Europa zu reduzieren.
Die beiden Werke in Friedrichshafen und Garching werden im Rahmen eines Aktienkaufs an die MWS Gruppe veräussert. Der Einfluss auf das Betriebsergebnis (EBIT) 2012 ist nicht signifikant, da die Transaktion als aufgegebener Geschäftsbereich ausgewiesen wird. Die Transaktion führt jedoch zu einem nicht liquiditätswirksamen Aufwand, der das Konzernergebnis 2012 mit CHF 27 Mio. belastet. Davon ist rund die Hälfte auf kumulierte negative Währungseffekte zurückzuführen.
Yves Serra, CEO von Georg Fischer, erklärt: „Die Integration der Aluminiumsandgussaktivitäten in das Geschäft von MWS hat eine bedeutende Konsolidierung innerhalb dieses Marktsegments zur Folge und erlaubt es GF Automotive, sich auf ihre Kernaktivitäten zu konzentrieren.“
Dr. Christoph Senft, Miteigentümer der MWS Industrieholding GmbH, äussert sich folgendermassen: „Durch die Übernahme werden wir der technologische Führer und der grösste Anbieter im Bereich Aluminiumsandguss in Europa. Das bisherige Management bleibt bestehen, um die Kontinuität des Geschäfts zu gewährleisten. Wir freuen uns, dass wir ein so erfahrenes und versiertes Team an Bord holen konnten.“
Die Giessereien in Friedrichshafen und Garching gehören seit 1999 zum Georg Fischer Konzern und beschäftigen 250 bzw. 180 Mitarbeitende. Sie sind spezialisiert auf Aluminiumsandgussteile für Pkw, Nutzfahrzeuge und Industrieanwendungen. Der Gesamtumsatz der beiden Giessereien belief sich 2011 auf CHF 127 Mio. GF Automotive verzeichnete 2011 einen Umsatz von CHF 1 664 Mio.
Die MWS Gruppe mit Sitz in Kufstein-Schwoich ist ein österreichischer Automobilzulieferer in Privatbesitz. Die Gruppe ist auf Aluminiumguss spezialisiert. MWS wurde 2004 gegründet und verfügt derzeit über drei Niederlassungen in Österreich und ein Produktionswerk in der Slowakei. Das Unternehmen hat insgesamt 320 Beschäftigte und erzielte 2012 einen Umsatz von ca. EUR 32 Mio. Es besteht eine langjährige Zusammenarbeit zwischen GF Automotive und MWS.

GF Automotive to further expand in Asia and focus on its core activities in Europe
Nov 29, 2012 7:00 AMGF Automotive, a Corporate Group of Georg Fischer, will further enlarge its existing plants in China and focus in Europe on its iron and aluminum die-casting foundries. The aluminum sand casting business with two foundries in Friedrichshafen and Garching, Germany, will be divested.
Georg Fischer expects for the foreseeable future continuing growth in the Asian automotive market and an overall subdued situation in Europe.
The expansion of GF Automotive in China will therefore continue at a substantial pace. In the last six years, sales in that country went up from 0 to 10 percent of the total turnover of the corporate group. The strong local demand will require an increase in the production capacity of the two existing iron and aluminum die-casting foundries of approximately 40 percent within the next two years.
In Europe, the focus of GF Automotive is on activities where a leading position has been or can be achieved. Therefore the corporate group has decided to mainly concentrate on its leading iron and aluminum die-casting foundries and divest the entire aluminum sand casting business, thus reducing its production footprint in Europe.
The two corresponding plants of Friedrichshafen and Garching will be divested to the company MWS through a share deal. The impact on the operating result (EBIT) of 2012 is insignificant, as the transaction will be disclosed as discontinued operations. The transaction will however lead to a non cash-charge of CHF 27 million on the net profit 2012, about half of which resulting from accumulated currency losses.

The foundries of Friedrichshafen and Garching belong to Georg Fischer since 1999 and employ 250 and 180 persons respectively. They are both specialists in aluminum sand casting for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial applications. Their combined sales in 2011 was CHF 127 million. GF Automotive itself reached sales of CHF 1,664 million in 2011.
MWS Group with its headquarters in Kufstein-Schwoich is an Austrian, privately owned automotive supplier. The Group is specialized in aluminum castings.
